I am currently an Assistant Clinical Professor of Palliative Care Medicine, and an Associate Faculty member at St. Stephen's College, at the University of Alberta. I am also a former Assistant Professor of Clinical Psychology.
In these roles I have provided and continue to offer numerous invited lectures and presentations, and teach undergraduate and graduate courses.

PPSYC 5812 – Psychopathology | St. Stephen's College - University of Alberta

An overview of key themes in adult psychopathology. It will examine the continuum of mental illness-health and how “abnormal” behaviour is understood in contemporary society. Students will understand the etiology, course, environmental contingencies, and prognosis of central DSM-5 disorders. Intervention will be broached throughout the course, though treatment considerations are not the focus.

PSY 838 – Clinical Psychology Practicum | Department of Psychology - Concordia University of Edmonton

This course offers in-depth clinical training for students in the PsyD program. Students develop basic psychotherapeutic skills, explore their emerging therapeutic orientation, and begin integrating scientific literature into their practice as a clinical psychologist. Topics include the establishment of the therapeutic relationship, theoretical models of psychotherapy, clinical interventions, process and outcome monitoring, self-reflective and ethical practice, risk assessment, case conceptualization, and cross-cultural awareness in practice.

This course will focus on the more commonly occurring mental disorders among adults. Emphasis will be on DSM-5 diagnosis supplemented by alternative models of psychopathology. Students will have an opportunity to present and discuss atypical and complex clinical cases.​

This course covers statistical methods used to summarize and make inferences from quantitative data. Inferential statistics include: chi-square, t-test, ANOVA, ANCOVA, correlation, regression, and multiple regression.

Students will develop an in-depth understanding of ethical issues and professional standards in clinical psychology. Students will learn how to identify and resolve ethical issues relevant to the practice of counselling and clinical psychology, following the Canadian Code of Ethics for Psychologists of the Canadian Psychological Association (CPA) and the College of Alberta Psychologists' (CAP) Guidelines and Standards in the professional practice of psychology.​

This course will provide students with an opportunity to study and explore the nature of a professional ethics as it relates to the practice of counselling. We will examine a variety of transdisciplinary ethical issues and concepts through course readings and case examples. Students will gain knowledge in the field of professional counselling ethics and reflect on their own personal and professional experiences. Emphasis will be placed on the application of professional ethics within the vocational settings that students aspire to work in, or are currently working in. This includes counselling, nursing, social work, art therapy, chaplaincy, pastoral counselling, and faith community leadership.

​​This course is designed for students registered in the Master’s degree in the School Counselling program. It focuses on the development of the skills, knowledge, and attitudes necessary for the professional practice of school counselling. The purposes of the course are to develop effective basic counselling skills, to explore your personal counselling style through practice, and to begin to experiment with integrating counselling skills and interventions into practice.

​The study of psychopathological disorders and their treatment. Topics covered include the major disorders as described in the DSM with an exploration of their etiology, course, and presentation. A discussion of historical perspectives, cultural considerations, lived experience, and controversies of abnormal psychology will be included. Various evidence-based psychotherapeutic techniques for these disorders will be introduced.​
